From the Artist: My idea of the painting was inspired by my 3 year old son. “Koinobori” is a streamer that wishes for the health and prosperity of the children. I am a Japanese, grown up in Japan. Having Japanese traditions helped me to establish my life in America as a “foreigner”. My son was born in America, will grow up as a Japanese American. I imagine his experience of “having Japanese traditions” would be different from mine. He might face some discriminations and prejudice that I didn’t have to face as a foreigner. But I want him to know that part of him that growing as a Japanese will be his strength not the weakness in his life. And I am wishing he will live his life strong like a Koinobori streaming high in the sky.

Part of TRADITIONS - 2nd Annual AAPI Group Show. If purchased, the artwork has to just stay on display until the duration of the exhibition is complete. The show comes down June 7th. Then please give us a few business days to ready your piece for shipment and send it out to you. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
