A SUPER Pop Up! – a week long installation by AdamFu is a rally cry for the AAPI community – a reminder that while each individual is strong, the greatest strength is the community. Growing up in a Buddhist home, Adam discovered at an early age the power of harnessing one’s energy, especially when supported by a larger community for the greater good.  One person can make a difference, but a community can move the largest of mountains.

Rooted in this philosophy, A SUPER Pop Up! spotlights the community of characters of Dragon Ball – the heroes who harness their superhuman powers to repeatedly save the

world, relying on each other to protect humankind. These heroes are akin to the AAPI community – strong everyday citizens who possess more strength than they know, especially when they are backed by their community.

To build community, Adam Fujita has partnered with Ewkuks and its creative AAPI co-founders, who collectively share the same goal of wanting to make an impact in the fight to Stop AAPI Hate.  This work is meant to inspire and encourage viewers to feel empowered and to provide joy and support for them through these difficult times. This capsule is your armor. Stay super! We’re in this together.

 Adam Fujita (aka AdamFu) is a product designer and artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. He holds an MFA in Product Design from SVA Product of Design Department; however, Adam has been making artwork with spray paint since his youth in San Francisco, starting actively writing graffiti in 1992. Transitioning to design by accident after many years in NYC, Adam has merged the concepts of product design and public art through the medium of letter-based murals and illustrations to support disenfranchised communities.

Adam’s darkness-piercing neon style has been an exploration of protest and activism pushing social justice to the forefront of his themed work while bringing a nostalgic and whimsical vibe to his pieces. The neon artwork Adam creates has supported a wide range of social issues including racial disparities, gender issues, police brutality, women's equality, nativism, and more throughout the world. In addition to his personal passions, Adam has also experienced commercial success partnering with brands such as Spotify, FUKU, Champion, Shake Shack, Brooklyn NETS, Cartier, Monster Energy, and many others. Adam is also the creator and host of the My Life in Letters podcast documenting the stories of graffiti writers, typographers, and other letter enthusiasts.
